This privacy policy explains how Tapastrails.com ("we," "the site") collects, uses, and protects your data when you visit. We try to keep this short and readable.
Who runs this site
Tapastrails.com is an independent food-tour curation website. The site is operated from Valencia, Spain.
What data we collect
We collect very little. Specifically:
- Analytics data via Google Analytics (only if you consent via the cookie banner), anonymized information about your visit: pages viewed, time on site, country (not city), device type, and how you arrived at the site (e.g. Google search). We do not collect your name, email, or identifying personal data.

- Outbound link tracking, when you click an affiliate link to GetYourGuide, Viator or a hotel on Expedia (through our partner Stay22), those platforms may set their own cookies. Their privacy policies apply once you're on their sites.
If you request one of our free food guides, we collect the email address you enter. It is stored in the form system of our website host, Netlify, and used to send you the guide and the occasional trip emails you agreed to when you signed up (you can unsubscribe at any time). We don't sell or share it. We do not collect names, phone numbers, payment information or other contact details.
Why we collect it
Analytics data helps us understand which content is useful to readers so we can write more of it. That's it. We do not sell data. We do not share data with advertisers.
Legal basis (GDPR)
Under GDPR, we rely on consent as our legal basis for analytics. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies for this site.
How long we keep data
Google Analytics retains data for 14 months by default. After that, individual visit data is automatically deleted; only aggregated trends remain.
Third parties
We use the following third-party services. Their privacy policies govern any data they collect:
- Google Analytics, visitor analytics. Google's privacy policy
- Netlify, website hosting. Netlify's privacy policy
- Google Fonts, typography (fonts load from Google's servers). Google's privacy policy
- Unsplash, some images are served from Unsplash's CDN.
- GetYourGuide, Viator, Stay22 and Expedia, affiliate booking partners. Their cookies are only set if you click an affiliate link.
Your rights under GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access any personal data we hold about you (the only personal data we hold is the email address you gave us for a guide)
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Authority (AEPD)
Children
This site is intended for adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted at the top of the page for at least 30 days.
